Find a Baby Sitter – Getting the Best Care For Your Kids

Do you find it hard to find a baby sitter? For some people, it really is a difficult task. This need not be the case though. Sometimes, the difficulty may be due to your choice of where to get a baby sitter. Looking at the important points surrounding the various sources for baby sitters may help you choose the best and most convenient course for you.

The Manual Search

For years, families have been choosing sitters the good old way. Sitters can be traditionally sourced from personal ads or from respondents to wanted ads. If this method has worked well for you in the past, you can still choose to do the same thing. There are however, some important points that you need to keep in mind.

· The first thing you should consider is the sitter’s credentials or records. Don’t take a sitter’s word at face value. Find out if there is any truth to the sitter’s resume content. You can do that by asking for references, course certificates and clearances from previous employers or other related documents.

· You have to interview a sitter extensively. This will allow you to learn more about your sitter and find out if there are inconsistencies or aspects you may not like about her. Moreover, a good interview session will allow you to find out if the two of you agree about child handling practices.

Going for an Agency

An agency is another common option to help you find a baby sitter. Agencies can take away a lot of the leg work and effort away from you. Agencies typically perform all the necessary background investigations on their applicants. They can also go so far as to complete screening procedures through applicant interviews. All you have to do is to ask for a sitter. Some agencies may allow you to choose specific applicants and interview them too.

Agencies however, can make some families complacent and dependent. Do remember though that not all agency sitter arrangements work out well. You may end up not liking your sitter after all. This is why you have to be certain that there are agency provisions for sitter replacements.

One other concern about agencies is that they can cost a lot. There can be a host of different fees that you would have to pay. This could typically include a considerable non-refundable placement fee.

Sitter Site Alternatives

Sitter sites are an alternative to agencies. These sites do warn that they aren’t agencies. What they typically do is they match sitters with potential client families. Matching happens when families and sitters interview each other regarding the available job. Sitter sites offer additional help by providing important sitter data such as resume content and results of background investigations. Like agencies, they also provide assistance with finding replacements when needed. Sitter sites however, are often way cheaper than agencies.

These are the top three ways to find a baby sitter. You may find one method more convenient for you than the other two. You could try all three methods to find out which is the best for you.

I had a babysitter that was in the same situation as you. She was wonderful to me and my child :) I wish I didnt have to move away from her!!!!! She charged me 2 dollars an hour. It may not seem like much but it all adds up. 2×40=80 a week. Which is the norm around here where I am from for someone who isnt liscenced.
