“Can Anyone Tell Me If There Is A Sure Fire Way.. I Can Go About/Assure I Could Illustrate >>..See Below”?
I am Very Creative and I would like to know if there is some sure.. fire way.. I can assure myself being able to illustrate my own work in writing books for children. Some people do with ease and have been doing their own illustrations. Beatrice Potter.. Tasha Tudor both were able to do so. Not sure if any were self published .. But.. I some how think not. I also want to have a say.. or part.. or..sketch my own book cover. I am an Artist and Writer.. and I don’t want to do one without the other. Because together they make me happy. I understand.. that book cover is done on the computer now.. I just want my idea drawn up and have someone else graphically do the cover. The same with the illustrations.. If I can just some how.. manage to give over some rough sketches to give an illustrator an idea.. but.. I may Very well want hands on with the books illustrations.. Thanks All. Hugs.
If you can do your own final illustrations, then go for it! Many children books are written and illustrated by the same person, like Chris Van Allsburgh.
If you’re just a writer, and don’t have experience with illustration, you’re really not in a place to be the creative director for your book. Illustrators are chosen for childrens books through the publishers, and those illustrators often have a certain style or flair that is chosen specifically for your story. While you might have great ideas, you’re not an expert in illustration or design, which is why others are in charge of it. If you have certain ideas, maybe a good illustrator or publisher will consider those ideas, but it’s not guaranteed.
