Liza Minnelli Tickets – Remaking History
After a failed attempt by O’Donnell to bring back the Variety Hour, one thing did return to the spotlight – Liza Minnelli. After a brief, and somewhat bizarre, performance during Rosie O’Donnell’s premiere variety hour show, Minnelli marked her return to the Broadway stage commencing her new show, Liza’s at the Palace….! It was just eight years ago that the Tony, Grammy, Oscar and Emmy Award winning star was told she might never walk again, and now, after what can only be assumed is a chockfull of medication and a few surgeries, Minnelli is hopping back onto the Broadway stage in a tribute to her godmother, Kay Thompson, and well…herself. “What I remember the most is that everything changed when she [Thompson] walked in a room,” Minnelli told the New York Times. “The energy changed, the atmosphere changed. She was it. She was Hollywood’s secret weapon. She taught me how to sing more than anyone. She taught me how to move. And she was so funny.” Returning to her mother’s favorite theater, Broadway’s Palace, Minnelli shines with her latest show, so don’t hesitate to get your Liza Minnelli tickets from http://www.stubhub.com/liza-minnelli-tickets, because God only knows how many more days this 62 year old has!
Liza’s at the Palace….! is running at the historic theatre where Judy Garland’s, Minnelli’s mother, had her show see more than 200 performances in 1951. The show is Minnelli’s first since 1999 and will take a glimpse at some of her greatest performances in the first act, from Cabaret to New York, New York and Maybe This Time, while the second remembers her godmother and author of the Eloise children’s book, Thompson. The production is produced by John Scher/Metropolitan Talent Presents & Jubilee Time Productions and due to such high demands was extended until December 28th. The script, written by Minnelli and Tony Award winner David Zippel, is directed and choreographed by Ron Lewis. Along with Minnelli, audiences can enjoy the talents of Cortes Alexander, Jim Caruso, Tiger Martina and Johnny Rodgers.
Though the 62 year old actress and singer isn’t crossing her fingers about a future with the show, taking things “one step at a time,” talking to http://Billboard.com, there is talk about returning to the stage after her three and a half week run at the Palace for a national tour and album release. But for right now, she said to Billboard, “I just want to get to the opening night, and then we’ll see what happens after that.” The album, a studio recording of the show, is already set to be released February 3, 2009 with Hybrid Recordings and is can be purchased with Liza Minnelli tickets for the show.
Liza Minnelli is probably best known for her performance in Cabaret, which she won an Oscar, while also being the constant hip companion of mother Judy Garland. Her first film appearance was in 1949 when she was just three years old, with In the Good Old Summertime, which starred her mother and was directed by her father. She created a name for herself as a valuable stage presence with her performances on Broadway and on film, earning loads of awards that represented her star quality. More recently Minnelli has been making headlines for her traumas, including an attack of encephalitis and her second hip replacement, along with a public divorce to husband David Gest.
