Can anyone tell me a really good classic book, that is a pretty good size?
I am doing an outside reading unit in school, but we can only read certain books for it, mainly classics. Any help would be appreciated. I also would like it not to be a small book, because I want to be able to read it the whole unit. Thanks!
Try anything by Victor Hugo; Notre Dame de Paris, The Man Who Laughs, Les Miserables, et cetera. Even if you are a fast reader, the unabridged editions do take a while. I love his books, but some find them tedious. I can’t blame them; the man goes on a lot of tangents.
You could also try Crime and Punishment or The Idiot by Fyodr Dostoevsky, The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, Dracula by Bram Stoker, or Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Pretty moderately sized when it comes to classics, but depending on the type of reader you are, it should make for a relevant list to choose from. They are to be savored slowly, after all.
