On an old analog clock, what is the setting at the back of the clock with the + and – setting used for?
I bought an old style clock and I don’t know if this setting is used to calibrate the clock. Does anyone have any ideas? I tried searching the web and had no luck…

That setting is used if your clock is running too fast or too slow.
The “+” would be to make a slow clock a little faster.
The “-” would be to make a fast clock go slower.
You would be either tightening or loosening the tension on the clock springs to achieve the desired result.
“Calibration” would be a correct term since you’re adjusting the clock speed to synchronize with real time.
