when should my son start sitting up on his own and crawling?
my son is turning 6 months on tuesday and he wont sit up on his own and doesnt like being on his stomach and doesnt show any interest in crawling. all he wants to do is stand. when is he going to start sitting up on his own and crawling?
The normal range for sitting is between 5 and 9 months, though some sit at 4 months and some not till 10 and they are still normal. A baby usually can’t srawl (at least not with tummy off the floor) until they are good at sitting as they need the back and core muscles as well as balance.
Alot of babies skip the crawling stage altogether these days since they do not spend as much time on their tummies as they did years ago. They go from sitting to pulling up and cruising on furniture to walking, without ever crawling. Also babies who crawl often learn to walk later, as they are perfectly content getting around on their hands and knees.
If you are worried ask your pediatrician, however 6 months is just the average age of sitting, not the cutoff.
No worries, mama
