Why is my English bull dog red with spots?
I came home from out of town and my englishbull dog has red spots on her neck and legs and head I call the vet im still waiting for a phone call cant wait any longer does anybody had this problem with there dog please help.
Not abuse….stress related skin irritation…they get nervous problems, and they itch. Could just be dry skin…either way, try some children’s benedryl….(if the dog weighs 30 pounds, i look up “30 pound child) on the back of the box, then cut the dose in half, give one dose in the am and one in the pm) if that doesnt work after a few days, go to the vet, they can give him a cortizone shot that at my vet we call “the itchy shot” it takes a lil bit to kick in, but it lasts about a month and it helps them get the fur back and stop itching….I bet thats all it is, dont worry too much….oh PS if there are open ouchies, go ahead and use some neosporen on them…it will not hurt them if they lick it off….let it soak in for 5 minutes and it will have the job done by then…it just tastes bad to them….good luck! pps….it is common for your breed of doggy….trust me, i work at a small clinic, and we see at least one or 2 cases each week….
