What is this thing about Spaniards having a lisp?
I read about this weird thing that Spaniards have a lisp and that it had to do with some king. I am of Spaniard descent and I don’t speak with a lisp. But I’m from the USA so I don’t speak Spanish either. Can someone tell if this is just bs or what? I don’t speak with a lisp, but is it because I don’t speak Spanish as a first language?
I know it’s not a travel question but I figured I could get an answer here.
Did you know that English-speakers have also a lisp?
This story about a king is just nonsense, the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
Spanish from most of Spain and English hava a consonant sound in which the tongue touches the back of the teeth, which is technically called “dental fricative consonant”, so the first sound of the word “think” sound exactly like the first sound of the Spanish word “zapato”.
In Southern-Spain (Andalusia), in the Canary Islands and Spanish-speaking countries of Latin-America they make an “s” instead of the “z” sound, so they would say “sapato” instead of “zapato”.
