Who writes the Matt Christopher books?
And NO, this question is not as stupid and obvious as you might think……..
So, Matt Christopher, the author of many sports books, died in 1997. Yet he still has new books coming out this year! So who writes the “Matt Christopher” books if the real Matt Christopher is dead?
I don’t know if it’s one person or a team of writers, but it’s not uncommon. Look at V. C. Andrews, who has many more books written in her name than she ever wrote in her lifetime! They’re using “Matt Christopher” as a brand name: you know it’s going to be a competently written sports book. If the other writer is good enough or already has a reputation, then the publisher will use his or her name, such as Brad Strickland who continued the John Bellairs series. The Alfred Hitchcock Three Investigators were written by different authors. Of course, “Carolyn Keene” was one of the most famous house pseudonyms.
Matt’s son Dale does author appearances for his late father, but from what I can see, does not write the new books.
I checked LOC and for Soccer Cats # 11 the author seems to be Stephanie Peters. The books say ” by Matt Christopher and Dan Vasconcellos.” Another book record says “Matt Christopher : snowboard champ / text by Paul Mantell” which means Paul Mantell wrote it. There are other authors listed. Was there a particular book in which you wanted to know authorship?
