Perfect Baby Shower Invitations And Tips For Your First Shower

Whether you’ve volunteered or been appointed to throw a baby shower, it can be a little daunting if this is your first shower. Don’t fret; with just a few simple tips you’ll be a master and have your guests – including the guests of honor – thanking you for a great event.

The baby shower invitation
Every great shower starts with a great baby shower invitation. There are many options for your baby shower invitation. The choices are endless; choose an adorable baby animal or a stylish printed baby shower invitation based on what the guest of honor would like. It is a party for Mom and dad to be so make sure you get some input from them.

Your invitation should also include all relevant information and also some idea about the planned activities and menu. As the nature of baby showers evolves, hosts are now having co-ed showers for both parents and even inviting children. Make sure all guests know exactly what your plan is so they can come prepared.

Shower games
Traditionally, shower games have been a bit hokey and you might want to consider updating the standard fare. The most important idea behind shower games is to break the ice and get guests talking and mingling. While the focus is the Mom-to-be, there should still be some interaction between guests. If the shower is going to include different groups of friends who may not know each other, consider an ice-breaker type game and see where that leads you. Don’t force the games if guests are mingling and having a good time, but have a plan if it turns out that you need and ice breaker.

Menu and décor
Once you have settled on a baby shower invitation carry that theme and style through to your décor. If you already know the gender of the baby, pick some cute pink or blue accents to highlight your baby shower. If the gender is still a secret, the sky is the limit when it comes to color and decorations. Don’t forget to let Mom (and dad) to be have a say in the decoration.

Your baby shower menu will depend greatly on the time of day. Almost anything is acceptable for a baby shower. A baby shower brunch can be a simple and elegant affair. Or you might opt for an evening event with snacks or a full dinner. There is no right or wrong answer. Even a cocktail – or mocktail – party might be fun with colorful drinks and yummy snacks to celebrate baby.

Keep the memories
It will all be over in a flash, so make sure you solicit a guest or hire a professional to take some photos. Get lots of candid shots and some posed as well. You can put photos together for a scrapbook or add to the guest book. Speaking of guest book, make sure you have one ready so guest can make a note for Mom. Make sure you’ve left enough room for guests to leave some words of wisdom and best wishes for the new family.

Planning a wedding shower can be easy if you just follow a few simple steps. You can be a gracious hostess with just a few tricks. Mom and Dad-to-be and your guests will be delighted by your great sense of style and fantastic party-planning skills.

Why do baby animals have blue eyes?

Like puppies and kittens and some other baby animals I’ve seen. My baby kittens have blue eyes that are starting to change green. And my goats when they were born had blue eyes. His did’t change until he was like 5 wks old. And I think babies have blue eyes too don’t they? Whats in eyes that make them blue then change color?

contrary to an above poster, color change has NOTHING to do with any tissue that protects the eyes & covers the real color. it all boils down to melanin production (the pigmentation that puts color in our skin & hair).

http://chemistry.about.com/cs/howthingswork/f/eyecolor.htm

the melanin hasn’t fully deposited in the eye’s irises when we are born. blue is kind of the default color when there is little pigmentation present. (notice how people who are very pale are more likely to have blue eyes & light hair rather than dark brown of either? it’s because they have less melanin/pigmentation all over.) the body deposits melanin in the eyes after birth, and when it collects there, it slowly changes the eye color. exposure to ultraviolet light (something lacking in the dark of a womb) turns it darker as well. it takes several months (usually around 6 months in humans, but may take as long as a year) for the melanin to fully develop and darken in our eyes. it occurs quicker for animals, usually within a few months. the more melanin that collects there, the darker the eyes become. those with little melanin in the eyes keep blue eyes. how much someone will have is generally dictated by genetics…we usually have a similar amount to what our parents have (with darker-eyed genes winning out over light ones).

it is the same for animals as it is for humans. but it is a quicker transformation for them since their body matures quicker overall than ours.
