What is a good research topic for 12th grade language arts?
ok so i am in an outstanding mood and i feel like doing a report. I am 13 years old in the 7th grade and i really want to impress my ac language arts teacher. we read at 10th grade level but i want to go above and beyond . what is a good topic to research for advanced 7th grade language arts?
I would do an author or a famed dramatist. John Updike or Harold Pinter (playwright), because they both recently died and it would be interesting to examine the impact their work had on society/the arts. Tom Stoppard is a personal favorite and his plays, though very short, are incredible to analyze. I just wrote a 10-page paper on the satire in two of his plays. They didn’t take long to read and there was so much there to write about. That was really fun. Edward Albee is like that, too, he’s very nuanced but his work could be disturbing to you. David Mamet is another modern playwright, though his style is quite sparse.
In 10th grade, I wrote a research paper on East of Eden, the book by John Steinbeck. In 11th grade, I wrote about the impact of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man on race relations in the 1950s. Either of those topics would impress your teacher.
