What should the compensation be for a man who was wrongfully imprisoned for a murder?
As far as I know, they just let him out once it has been established he’s innocent. I think it’s a shame that he isn’t compensated with millions of dollars and the idiots who got it wrong aren’t imprisoned in his stead. There needs to be dire consequences for judges/law enforcement who make this mistake. We’re talking about a man’s life being literally destroyed.
Usually they get a couple million dollars from the State, but it depends on how long he was imprisoned for. He can expect millions if he was imprisoned for 20 years, but a couple years they probably will settle for much less.
If you want to google these guys that eventually got freed to see how much there settlements were, you can get their names from this site:

He should also get a lawyer, which will be no problem if he has the evidence to prove wrongdoing on the part of the police/judges.
