Tea Party
What will the tea party people do when Rand Paul loses the general election?

Just like they did with Scott Brown, the tea party people are already declaring Rand Paul to be their next messiah, and are already talking about a presidential run in 2012 despite the fact that he’s never held public office before.

When Rand Paul loses the general election, are they finally going to face the reality that the American people don’t like their ideas? Or will they make more excuses?

You’re forgetting that Paul is running in the state of Kentucky.

This is the state that sent Jim Bunning and Mitch McConnell to Congress.

2008 data:
About 1.7 million people are registered as Democrats and about 1 million Republicans. There are also nearly 191,000 people registered as “other.”

And Republicans still manage to win. Paul is two sandwiches short of a picnic but he’s running in Kentucky.

2008 McCain won by 400,000 votes.

Popular vote 1,048,462 751,985
Percentage 57.37% 41.15%

As far as 2012, Rand Paul, outside of Kentucky was made toast by his libertarian views on the 1964 Civil Rights Legislation. He stopped one inch short of saying that it is OK for privately owned public businesses like a lunch counter to refuse to serve blacks or anyone else they don’t like.
